It is important to note that the majority of banking institutions do not immediately report interest income to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) at the beginning of the new financial year (1 July).
As a result, your bank interest may not yet appear in the ATO prefill data when preparing your tax return early in the season.
However, to avoid unnecessary delays and to prepare your tax return earlier, most banks provide the ability for customers to download their own interest summaries directly from their online banking portals.
If you have earned any interest income from your savings, we encourage you to log in to your online banking and download the relevant interest summary for the 2024–2025 financial year.
⚠️ Please ensure that you select the correct financial year: FY2024/25, when retrieving your summary. By retrieving your bank interest statement manually, you can help streamline your tax return process and avoid waiting for ATO prefill data to be updated by your bank.
Below, we have listed direct links to each bank’s official website or support page with instructions on how to access this information. All links are secure and direct from the respective banks:
Commbank
Bank of Melbourne
